 Welcome to Big Bear Lodge!


Big Bear Lodge is located just 18 miles from the Atlantic coast in the heart of blueberry country in Deblois, Maine.

You are only an hour east of Bangor, Maine and an hour from Canada.

Here at the lodge you can enjoy comfortable sleeping quarters, hot showers and full kitchen facilities.

While you are truly in the wilderness you still have easy access to restaurants, shops, and modern conveniences.

Enjoy trout and pickerel fishing at its finest! You will have the opportunity to fish some of the best rivers and brooks in the country!

You are only a few miles from the Atlantic Ocean for some salt water fishing too!

Here at Big Bear Lodge we work hard to see that you have a great time and get every opportunity to harvest a bear.

We have had bear taken with bow, rifle, muzzel loaders, and handguns. Whatever your preference, we can accommodate you.

While I cannot control your hunting skills, I can and do guarantee "active bait". You will not be sitting over bait that is not being visited by bears!

If you de-scent, sit quiet, and shoot straight, you will be bringing a bear home!

     Thank You to all the hunter of 2011 for making it a very successful season!  The photo page has been updated!

      We shot a total of 11 bears this season!   Great going guys!    We had a total of 17 hunters this year.  We had one bear wounded that we could not recover.  Hunting over bait is not as easy as it sounds.  Bears are very smart, wild animals.   

               At North Country Adventures I start baiting the sites the first week of August. I bait 18 sites which are at least 1 mile apart. That covers at least 1000 acres per hunter. No one will be hunting close to you.

     I only book 8 hunters per week for 4 weeks. There are plenty of bears so that everyone can harvest one. 

     Your hunting skills are very important! These bears are wild, not farm raised animals at some fenced in shooting reserve. If you are wanting to shoot tame, farm raised animals, this is not the place!!!

     I have already received call from hunters for the 2012 season. Since I only take 8 hunters per week, for the 4 weeks of season, I hope to fill up fast! If you are interested please get in touch with me!
